Exploring Line

It was interesting to use my hand as the drawing subject for this assignment. You would think it would be easy to draw your own hand since it is something you see everyday, but it was not that simple. My hand was a lot more deailed than I thought! The media I selected was pencil. I chose this media because it was what I am most familiar; just like how I thought I was so familiar with my own hand. But, I do feel the pencil did make it easier and that I would have had more difficulty if I had decided to use charcoal. The biggest challenge of course was having to use my non-dominant hand to draw the dominant one. That was extremely frustrating. I am right handed and have never tried using my left hand to write or draw. You will see that by looking at how distorted the drawing of my right hand is in my photos. Even though one drawing came out better than the other, and I struggled a bit, I do feel they were fairly accurate. I did my best to include all the lines and curves I saw as well as the length of my fingernails. I would like to try producing more artwork with my left hand in the future as a way to try and develope how well I can use it in functions I would not normally use it for.
